Little Boy Blue: Losing a Child with the Mourning Society
634 S Broadway
St. Louis, MO 63102
USA
The Field House Museum is partnering with the Mourning Society of St. Louis on Saturday, April 17, 2021 to bring you Little Boy Blue, a presentation delving into the loss of a child in the 19th century. Enter the historic Field family home and step back in time as the Mourning Society demonstrates the practices and customs used to mourn the loss of a child. The society will also have artifacts on display and interpreters to provide context and information on the subject.
This program is to honor the many poems Eugene Field wrote concerning the loss of a child. These poems ended up being some of his most popular works because losing a child was such a common occurrence for the time period, and people found them relatable. This program may be difficult for some audiences.
Performance Times:
1:00, 1:30, 2:00, 2:30, and 3:00.
Limit of 20 people per time slot. Masks and reservations are required.
