The Field House Museum welcomes Malaika Horne on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 1:00 pm, to discover the captivating story of a mother who struggled to overcome societal challenges and succeed in raising six children during the mid-twentieth century in her book, Mother Wit: Exalting Motherhood while Honoring a Great Mother.

About the Speaker: Malaika Horne, Ph.D., is the founding director of the Executive Leadership Consortium at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She is an academic writer, book author, and journalist, writing extensively on topics ranging from politics, health, and social causes to women’s issues. Dr. Horne served on the editorial board of the Journal of Diversity in Higher Education. She is a community and civic volunteer, currently working as a career and lifestyle coach/consultant. Her hobbies are travel, reading, fashion, health and fitness, and becoming proficient in Spanish. She is married to Prince A. Wells, III, professor of music at SIUE.
