Author Talk: STL Scavenger

“The man who wrote ‘Little Boy Blue’ / grew up in this house, it’s true!” is just one of the many clues you will find in Dea Hoover’s STL Scavenger: The Ultimate Search for St. Louis’s Hidden Treasures. The Field House Museum is proud to welcome the renowned tour director and author to share her experiences as a St. Louis guide. Dea will guide attendees on where to find some of the smallest and greatest marvels of St. Louis while exploring some of the 17 neighborhoods featured in her book!

About the Speaker

As a veteran tour director, Dea Hoover is accustomed to hearing the familiar mantra, “Are We There Yet?” – thus the name of her full-service tour operation in the city of St. Louis. In 2008, Are We There Yet?, LLC expanded its operations with the acquisition of St. Louis’ first local receptive tour operation Discover St. Louis, LLC, founded in 1975. Dea is Past President for the Professional Tour Guide Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and previously served on the board of the Missouri Travel Association. Other tourism memberships include the American Bus Association and Explore St. Louis. Dea teaches classes on travel and tour conducting at St. Louis Community College, in addition to being a guest speaker for corporations and private organizations.
