Cocktails & Conversations: The Power of the Press

Join us for our members-only program, Cocktails & Conversations! Special Collections Curator Lindsay Davis starts off our series with a conversation on the exhibit Power of the Press: The Newspaper World Eugene Field Inherited in the Eugene Field Library. Lindsay will take us back to the mid-nineteenth century when St. Louisans only had one place to turn to if they wanted to catch up on the latest local, national, and international news – the newspaper, and discuss how old-school St. Louis editors used their platforms to promote their personal politics, advocate for their favorite causes, and attack anyone who dared disagree with them!
