Speaker Series: Across the Field Collections Mini-Series Part 2
634 S Broadway St
St. Louis, MO 63102
USA
Join us on May 6, 2022, at 1:00 pm as the Field House Museum continues with part two of our Speaker Mini-Series. This year, we have invited various organizations from around the country to share their Field collections with us. The Denver Public Library, located in Denver, Colorado, will be the next guest of the series. Brian Trembath, the Special Collections Acquisitions Librarian, will share with us items from the library’s Central Branch Western History Department that has long housed the Eugene Field Collection. The collection is made up of Field manuscripts, correspondence, publications, and press clippings, while first editions of Field’s works are also in both DPL’s Western History and Colorado Authors Collections.
From 1881 to 1883, Eugene Field was the editor of the Denver Tribune. It was there that Field published his first book, The Tribune Primer, composed of pieces from his column, “The Current Gossip.” This presentation will primarily take place on Zoom, but the Field House Museum will host a small watch party during the event. The program is free with a limited number of seats. Reservations must be made in advance through Eventbrite, by calling the Museum at 314-421-4689, or emailing info@fieldhousemuseum.org.
