Speaker Series: Behind the Books with NiNi Harris

The Field House Museum welcomes back historian and author, NiNi Harris on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 1:00 pm. Passionate about St. Louis history, NiNi has gathered stories and documentation from the oldest parts of the City’s history into 14 books on St. Louis. While her early education around the kitchen table brought about an interest in immigrant communities, she also explores the extraordinary architecture of churches, St. Louis’ role in the American West, and the Union’s involvement in the Civil War. Her many books are an exciting peek into our City’s past, and this time, NiNi will share with us a look behind her books, delving into her research process as a historian.

About the Author:

NiNi Harris is a local author, historian, and tour guide. Her books include: Oldest St. Louis (2020), Downtown St. Louis (2015 & 2019), This Used to Be St. Louis (2018), A Most Unsettled State: First-person Accounts of St. Louis During the Civil War (2013), St. Louis Parks (2012), Holly Hills (2010), Historic Photos of the Gateway Arch (2009), Unyielding Spirit: The History of the Polish People in St. Louis (2007), and Bohemian Hill: An American Story, An Area of St. Louis Missouri Settled by Immigrants (2004).

NiNi’s book, Holly Hills, won the Osmund Overby Award for Missouri Preservation in 2012. Due to her popular walking tours, and her role as a historian, NiNi has been recognized in countless local publications.
