The Field House Museum welcomes Charlie Brennan for our first in-person event of 2021. Join us on May 1 at 1:00 pm for this outdoor Speaker Series where Brennan will present his book, Only in St. Louis! The Most Incredible, Strange and Inspiring Tales. While cloistered during the pandemic, Brennan decided to gather the best of the many great stories he had and publish a book that truly represents St. Louis. From stories about a heavy metal rock star that attended Concordia Seminary to a national celebrity who accidentally invaded a home in West County, the book is a fun and inspiring read for any fan of the Gateway City!
This program is free with a limited number of seats. Reservations must be made in advance through Eventbrite, by calling the Museum at 314-421-4689, or by emailing programs@fieldhousemuseum.org.
About the Author:
Charlie Brennan was hired by KMOX General Manager Robert Hyland to work evenings and weekends in 1988. Within two years, he took over the mid-morning shift where he has been ever since. In his 33rd year at KMOX, Brennan is the host of “The Charlie Brennan Show with Amy Marxkors” which runs Monday through Thursday at 8:30 am.
Throughout his long and storied career, Brennan has had many accolades including being inducted into the St. Louis Radio Hall of Fame in 2009 and named “One of the Most Influential St. Louisans” five years in a row by The St. Louis Business Journal. He has won numerous journalism awards and published four books including: Amazing St. Louis: 250 Years of Great Tales and Curiosities and Only in St. Louis! The Most Incredible, Strange and Inspiring Tales.
As incredible as the stories he tells, Brennan has been a pillar of support within the St. Louis community. He helped to erect a statue honoring Chuck Berry, the Father of Rock and Roll, organized campaigns to send care packages to troops overseas, battled the Missouri Supreme Court over red-light cameras, and led many campaigns to help clean up and beautify St. Louis.
