About the Program:
The Field House Museum is pleased to welcome local historian and author Julie Nicolai on August 25, 2023 to discuss her new book, Enslavement and the Underground Railroad in Missouri and Illinois. The book, out July 31, details stories of the courage and perseverance of the enslaved and the abolitionists who helped them on their path to freedom.

About the Speaker:
Julie Nicolai is a local St. Louis historian and has been studying the Underground Railroad in Missouri, Illinois, and Kansas for twenty-five years. She has a B.A. and M.A. in Art History and Archaeology from Washington University in St. Louis and has written articles for the Missouri Historical Society, New York Silver Society and the Morse-Libby Mansion. She is currently working on a book on the silver in a local museum’s collections. She lives in St. Louis and loves to travel anywhere to experience the UNDERGROUND RAILROAD.
